FAQ

  • Q: What is the warranty on Tecotech LEDs lights?

There is a 5 years warranty on all Tecotech LED downlights, and 3 years warranty on all Tecotech LED Spotlights.

  • Q: Can I make ODM order?

Yes, we can design and produce lamps according to your requires and ideas but you should pay for all the cost at the earlier stage such as making moulds, and making samples. And the MOQ of ODM order is always minimum 1000pcs. And we will return all your cost on developing the new product after you have ordered 10000pcs by giving you 5% lower price for future orders.

  • Q: Do LED lights work with motion sensors?

Yes! However some older sensors may not work. It is best to test the replacement light fitting or lamps first as some sensors don’t completely switch off and residual current can allow the LED to glow. We have suitable sensors that will work on LEDs.

  • Q: Do I need an LED-compatible transformer / driver?

With some LED lights it is necessary to change existing transformers, as they will not be compatible. You would see that they are not compatible with the LED lamp as they would cause the lamp to be very dim or have a very pronounced flicker or strobe. Our MR16 LED bulbs have been designed to be compatible with 90% of regular transformers.

  • Q: Can LED light bulbs be used with dimmers?

LED light bulbs can only be used with a dimmer switch if they specifically state in their technical specification that they are dimmable. If there is no mention of the bulbs dimming facility you should always assume that the bulb is not dimmable.

Believe it or not, dimmer switches come in two different varieties. These are leading edge and trailing edge.

  • Q: What is LED Lighting?

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The diode comes in the form of a computer chip on a circuit board. The properties of the diode cause it to generate light when an electric current passes through it. Depending on the chip and materials used, different colors in the color spectrum can be created. Prior to the technological revolution of the 90s and the rapid advancement of the microchip, the LED was used only in small-scale applications such as indicator lights.

The same advancements that spurred the computer to reach dizzying levels of efficiency have also done the same for the LED. Just as computers have become faster and cheaper, LED lights have become brighter, smaller, less expensive, and more sophisticated.

LEDs are solid state technology. That means there is no glass bulb, no pressurized gases, no mercury and no burning filament. With the traditional bulb, 90% of its energy is transmitted as heat while light is a mere by-product of electrifying the metal coil inside the bulb.

From the indicator light on your VCR to the light fixture above your head, LEDs have come a long way in becoming the go-to solution for building and home illumination.

  • Q: What are lumens?

A lumen is a unit that measures luminous flux, or the total amount of visible light emitted by a source. If a light source emits one candela (approximately one candle’s worth) of luminous intensity into one steradian (a solid angle – picture light waves emitting from a source in a cone shape), the total luminous flux emitted into that steradian is one lumen. The lumen can be thought of casually as a measure of the total amount of visible light emitted. For example, a standard 100 Watt incandescent bulb emits about 1500 lumens.

  • Q: What is Lux?

Lux is lumen per square meter. The difference between the lux and the lumen is that the lux takes into account the area over which the luminous flux is spread. 1000 lumens, concentrated into an area of one square meter, lights up that square meter with an illuminance of 1000 lux. The same 1000 lumens, spread out over ten square meters, produces a dimmer illuminance of only 100 lux.

  • Q: What do "cool white" and "warm white" mean, and what is CCT?

The Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) is given in the description of each of our white led bulbs. The color (CCT) of our white bulbs ranges from a warm yellow white (2700K) to a cool blue white (7000K).

By comparison, a typical incandescent bulb has a CCT of 2800K. A typical halogen is a bit higher, maybe 3500K. Daylight white is 4500K and a cool white fluorescent is 6000K or more.

The human eye adapts to background light so that even a daylight white bulb will look slightly blue in a room illuminated mainly with incandescent bulbs. Similarly, an incandescent bulb will look very yellow or even orange in midday sunlight.

  • Q: Are E26 and E27 light bulb bases interchangeable?

Yes. The E26 is the standard 120 Volt American base. The E27 is the European variant and is rated at 220 Volts. E26 is 26 mm and the E27 is 27 mm diameter. However, an E26 bulb can fit in E27 base and an E27 bulb can fit in E26 base without problem. The sockets / bulbs are interchangeable except for the voltage rating. Therefore, LED E26 bulbs that are universal line-voltage can be used in both E26 and E27 sockets.

  • Q: Are LED lights cost-effective?

LED lights are very cost effective as the savings are two fold. Firstly, the LED technology is extremely efficient and so you will use around 90% less electricity than traditional lighting. Secondly, as the LED light has a huge life expectancy you will save on the cost of replacing the old traditional bulbs and also the hassle of physically replacing them.

  • Q: How can I return or get replacement if I have a failed lamp from your company?

First we take very strict quality control on production, our reject ratio is under 0.3%. We always give one or two free spare lamps to our customers in case of future failing within the warranty period.

As we are Chinese manufacture our business is focusing on with business cooperators such as wholesalers, engineering contractors, Middle and big sized retailers who can do regular continues business with us so we can always provide replacements to them by delivering with their next orders. This way can save freight cost a lot.

And what we want to emphasize is, we will pay for the added replacements’ freight cost.

  • Q: How hot does an LED bulb get?

    A 50W GU10 halogen bulb reaches around 260o C and our 5W GU10 LED bulb reaches around 60℃.

  • Q: Do leds come on immediately or do they need to warm up?

Unlike CFLs, which usually take a few minutes to reach full brightness, LEDs reach full brightness instantaneously.

  • Q: What is a beam angle?

Measured in degrees, beam angles describe the angle at which a bulb emits its light. Bulbs with a narrow beam angle create a spotting effect and are suitable for highlighting particular features of a room. Bulbs with a wide beam angle create a flooding effect and are better for general ambience.

  • Q: What evidence should I provide to prove that I have a failed LED lamp from you?

Please take a short video and send us by email.

When if a LED Downlight does not work that will be two reasons, one is because of the LED chips failed, one is because of the LED Driver failed. So you need to check which one is failed. If the LED chips failed we will send you the light part without the driver, if LED Driver failed we will send you LED driver.

However, for LED Spotlight, no matter what part of the lamp failed we will provide you a new one.
